Death or dementia in our state sanctioned asylums.
One of the sad repercussions of these continued lockdowns is the toll it is taking on the elderly. I recently learnt that in care homes, due to government guidelines, the residents have basically been in solitary confinement since March. This imposed punishment, far worse than what hardened criminals have to endure, has seen their health decline dramatically. The general consensus from those I have spoken to is that they would rather take the risk, what is the point if they are imprisoned with no contact with friends or family. So they sit there, waiting for a sad, lonely death or at best the onset of dementia.
